Venerable Prajnananda Mahathera

Venerable Prajnananda Mahathera was a prominent monastic leader of the Parbatya Bhikkhu Sangha Bangladesh (PBSB) who served the community through his religious, organizational, and international contributions for many years. He served as the General Secretary of PBSB from 1978 to 1988 and later as its President from 2011 to 2014.

He not only contributed to internal organizational development but also represented the Buddhist community of Bangladesh on the global stage. He participated in various international Buddhist conferences in Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, China, and Taiwan, showcasing Bangladesh’s rich Buddhist heritage and ongoing initiatives. He also played a leadership role in institutions like Moanoghar, which focuses on supporting underprivileged children.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he received several national and international honors. Notably, he was awarded the Korean Jogye Order Medal in 2000 and the “Elder Wise” Award in 2014. The life and work of Venerable Prajnananda Mahathera stand as a powerful example and inspiration within the Buddhist community of Bangladesh.
